For a couple weeks now Ludvig has been mentioning how he wanted to get his haircut. When I read in GQ about Frank's Chop Shop (Drake gets his hair cut there), a place for 'Modern gentlemen of Leisure'... I knew it was the perfect place for him to try. I love his new haircut!

Frank's chop shop is the flagship barbershop for Frank151 Media Group, a company which is home to their pocket sized quarterly titled The Frank Book, Frank Distro League, and Frank Retail Network (their boutique, which has locations all around the world. There is one conveniently merged with the barbershop).

So Ludvig and I have fallen into the whole Tumblr thing. I mostly reblog photos (the link is here: twoeggsinsnow) and Ludvig actually posts his work on his tumblr. I love his work, really I do. Not only do I love his photography (he always takes pictures of things that I would never think to photograph... even really unattractive things, and in the end they always turn out really beautiful and appealing.. He just says 'It's because of that plastic lens yo.' Liar.) but he is the best at collaging. Fact. Since we both like to collage we sometimes do it on random mornings or afternoons. Ludvig will bring out this big box filled with magazines and we will sit there in silence with our exacto knives and glue sticks in hand for hours listening to music (some of my favorite times btw). But unlike my collages, which are usually overtly sexual and filled with blonde haired models and pictures of fur... not the most interesting... Ludvig's collages are pastiches of bizarre and unrelated images that always turn out to be copasetic. He even makes a cliche picture from Dwell look interesting...and not just because it is a photograph of a house that is only made out of eco friendly triangles. I feel like if you look at his work all together, his photography, drawings, collages...(rave-in-a-box)... whatever it may be, a phantasmagorical version of the way he thinks manifests. If I didn't love his work so much I would probably be jealous... I actually kind of am.

Rooftop with Ludvig

Ludvig has the most lovely rooftop. It has the best view of Manhattan. I have been up there during all of the seasons and I have to say that Summer at night time is one of the best times to be up there. Well... I cannot actually say that without mentioning Spring in the early morning or when it has snowed loads during Winter... I do not know why but I feel guilty because all seasons on the rooftop are lovely. Even more pleasant than the view from the rooftop (during any season) is being on the rooftop with Ludvig, so I was not so surprised to find two lovers nestled under a blanket when we opened the door during this 4 am adventure. We both felt a little embarrassed and headed to the other side.

Despite how delightful the rooftop really is, I do not think I could sleep up there. If you were to look at the floor in the day time you would feel the same I think, there is so much broken glass! I could not stop peering over at them, I even think I saw the girl putting on her panties!

Just got back from Vermont. Ludvig came to visit for the weekend and therefore had a friend on the train (yay!). When we went to pick him at the train stop in this middle of no where town we found an antique store where I bought a vintage silk Chanel shirt for $3.50. What a steal! Now I am getting my hair done at a salon called Avalon on Christopher Street, It is my second visit. It is a completely anxiety free place with excellent service and a calming interior. Hopefully I will look more blonde after this appointment!

Also, I need to try some Drank (thanks Jilly for the pic from Dallas where it is normal to see it...jealous!) And I need to find a place in the city that sells it.

I don't have a picture of him because honestly I think it's almost impossible to find one of him on the internet. But that isn't important because I am sure he would rather find images then get ones of him taken. This is okay because honestly I think he is one of the best at finding images. If you go to his blog and you will see this. And you'll like his blog because you'll like the way he sees things. I don't think I've met a person who doesn't find it interesting. Because I don't have a picture of him I'll just have to show you one that reminds me of him. I think this next picture captures him well. I do not know what that thing is but it's an extension of the eye so it's fitting:

We used to be good friends, but then we weren't anymore. We reconnected recently and since then I have wanted to ask him:

But we talked today about how people can haunt us when all of our emotions for them are gone and they are just an image and I realized it didn't matter where he had been because he's just one of those people I connect with and that is important. If you want to know a fact, I think that even when him and I are on horrible terms we are still sharing images, music, new, links (whatever is captivating us) and I think that's a rare thing to come by. Post Valentines Day. I've decided I like the holiday because it is all about hearts. I've been simply obsessed with hearts ever since I got my heart shaped sunglasses. Not in the way that girls get when they mark the lower-case letter 'i' with a heart, I actually think that is horrible, but in this way where I want to be surrounded by hearts.

Down the rabbit-hole

I have fallen down a rabbit hole. it's pretty obvious. It looks like these images:

And you would expect to find me wandering around here:

It looks soft and warm, but falling down a rabbit hole doesn't always leave you in the softest of places. in fact, it can make your insides feel like this picture. I don't enjoy an inner-self conflict:

And when you've fallen down a rabbit-hole and you end up feeling lost and cold, you begin to realize things and notice things you have never noticed, which can actually be quite beautiful. I learned that I have never felt:

I'm perfectly okay with that. It kind of settles me actually. I feel like this person though. Lost and cold in some place beautiful.... but unaware of where I am and where I am supposed to go and why anyone would play with snow shoes, because everyone knows that snow shoes are a lie. They never work.

And I am sure I will learn something from this experience. Wouldn't it be wonderful if even ended up enjoying it?! I guess I just have to figure out how to get the key to put me through the door. Or maybe I am already through because I am in a place where things don't make any sense to me... but everything still feels so fixed because it is.

Dogsledding

First, my Father's birthday dinner. We look crazy. Sam looks latin (and it's not just because of the pixelation I swear).

This morning I watched the snow:

Then we took the lift (I guess you could call it that) to the top of the mountain so we could go dogsledding:

I left the cracked eggshells and the egg yolks in the snow where Axel plays. Hopefully this won't hurt him. if he isn't supposed to eat raw egg and does, well that is what he gets for unravelling a whole ball of my yarn, chewing through it, and then whining when he is all tangled in it.

Ps I saw the jankest phone booth ever today. It was out of control to me. I find it really weird to see people using phone booths... because first of all it is a piece of technology that should be extinct (it's not like a talk boy where it is pretty great if you still have one from 1992), secondly you have to touch the phone inside, third... why wouldn't you just use your cell phone (and if you don't have a cell phone that is a little weird to me... a little anti-cyborg... anti-cybernetics.. isn't that a fun word?), and lastly people pee in phone booths (case in point). I am already scared of phone booths, but this one didn't even have a phone inside. How horrifying is that?

My Jewish Christmas. It was a white Christmas. I had to be woken up, but it would have been cool if I had woken up at 6 am and got everyone else up.

I did not mean everything that I said. You let me back in.

So this was all before I got the swine flu(the plague). It has taken me ages to even start this post because I have been so sleepy and horrid feeling that I haven't even touched my computer. the plague/flu is out of control and needs to be ethered and put in a cage. Fact. Because of this, I only got to see my friends for one day.

On my first day home I got to visit Glen. I don't think he was very happy that he had to fit me in. I was convinced my hair was brown though and that it was a necessity. Thanks Glen.

Later we went to Sam's apartment. He had this creepy mustache that I posted about earlier. I think it makes him look like he is in porn or molests children. He finally shaved it off thank god.

Later, Erin and I moved to a softer place. Erin is amused. I am frightened. I think this is when we were trying to put Sam in the cage with Sky.

It was hard work so we immediately passed out. There was just too much excitement.

I except it to be done in three years as it only gets worked on when I am visiting home, and usually it is me painting over the painting sam did to previously cover my painting.... if that makes any sense. Halloween

Night 3.

This was our Halloween. Dmitri and I were 'Dubstep' doctor and nurse. A nurse is kind of my alter ego. Sam and Erin were candy stripers. It excites me because it reminds me of how my mother was a candy striper when she was younger and liked to jump in the elevators when traveling between floors.

I even got to see Nils! He was kind enough to let me borrow his jacket.

I made a goal to not dress as a huge hoe this year. It failed.

After getting locked out of Sam's apartment, when we finally got in Jillian put on a pair of Sam's pants because she decided not to wear a coat out!? I also love how she has a glow stick between her boobs. It's symbolic of all the glow sticks we got that night.

Me changing back into the Marc flannel. I think this mainly has to do with the fact that I actually wanted to be Kurt Cobain for Halloween. Oh well.

Either way, I had a fun Halloween. I miss Vermont already.

And in the morning I just couldn't help to think of a dream Sam told me about the other day. It is probably just a sign that neither of us have been watching enough Fresh Prince and that we both want another episode where Carleton (C-note) and Will lie to Uncle Phil and Aunt Viviane and tell them they are going on a weekend school trip to San Francisco, when really they are going to go visit Jazz in Compton so Carleton (C-note) can prove that he is actually a 'brotha.' And ends up looking super ghetto. Pretty great.

In other news, Chloë and I have tricked our neighbors into thinking we have a cat and a dog named Ruffles.

Lucky for me, I get to go to VT on Thursday! Pretty amped for that six hour train ride. Now time to write a paper! xx

A real revolution is 180º

Chloë and I went with Marquette to a party in the finical district. Because it was raining and it was cold and everyone in the city wanted a cab all at once, and no one will take five people in a cab. It was kind of a trek getting there. We even ended up taking the subway. While we were waiting for the subway, Chloë and I realized that this was the most true statement of the night and that we should write half of it on each of our hands so that if one of us got lost the other one would know that they wouldn't feel complete until they found the other half of the statement.

The highlight of the party was this kitty. It really knew what was up.
